Lakes of Lockwood was originally plated in the mid 1990's.  Construction soon began with the focal point being a seven acre man-made lake.  Modest restrictions and large lot sizes (average lot size is 90' x 200')can accomodate a larger number of size and style homes.  A community activity center located at the end of both streets features a full array of exercise equipment, kitchen, dining area, and game area.  The two story clubhouse overlooks a swimming pool and both lakes as well as a common park area.  Access to the lake for those without waterfront property can be gained from the common area.  The lake is available to all residents for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing (no motorized boats).  Located approximately one mile from a premier golf course, Lakes of Lockwood also enjoys a close proximity to Holden Beach with an array of dining and shopping options.
